Rose Mary Cech, 98, of Havre died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes.
Her funeral Mass will be held at 2p. m. today at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Robert D. Grosch officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery at Hill County Cemetery. A fellowship will be held at St. Jude Parish Center immediately after the services at the graveside. Rose was born Sept. 9, 1908, in Wimbelton, N.D., to Charles and Katherine (Mueller) Erbacher. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Montana, where they homesteaded north of Zurich. The family later moved to Havre, where they owned and operated Erbacher Bakery. Rose was raised and educated in Havre. She attended beauty school and returned to Havre, where she operated Rose's Beauty Shop for many years. Rose married Thomas J. Cech on Jan. 5, 1939. The couple made their home in Havre where Thomas worked on the railroad. After Thomas died, Rose moved to Eagles Manor. She just recently moved to the Northern Montana Care Center. Rose was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, member of the altar society and a founding member of the Catholic Daughters. She also belonged to the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Cech in 1991; sons, LeRoy Cech in 1970 and Richard Cech in 2006; sister, Katherine Erbacher; and brothers, Joe, Carl, Jerome and Camielus Erbacher. Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Charlotte Skirling of Eugene, Ore., Dona Overcast of Scappoose, Ore., Carol Oleander of Portland, Ore., and Dolores Morris of Goodyear, Ariz.; sister, Diane Erbacher of San Bruno, Calif.; and brothers, Robert Erbacher of Goodyear, Ariz., Doug Erbacher of Denver, and James Erbacher of San Bruno. Memorial contributions in Rose's honor may be made to The American Cancer Society. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
