Willard Purkett, 78, of Havre died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, at his home surrounded by his family of natural causes.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Fifth Avenue Christian Church. Cremation has taken place. Willard was born Oct. 15, 1928, in Glasgow to Paul and Catherine (Gabrelick) Purkett. He attended schools in Glasgow and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged Oct. 28, 1947. Willard married Evelyn Huestis on Dec. 1, 1948, in Great Falls. Willard retired from Burlington Northern Railway in 1989. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Moose Lodge and a life member of V.F.W. Willard is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Rick) Larson, Gayle (Doug) Jenkins, Arla Keeling (Barry Gjesdal) and Narda (Warren) Anderson, all of Havre; daughter-in-law, Marge Purkett of Havre; son-inlaw, Ed Keeling of Havre; brothers, James Purkett of Forsyth and Ambrose Purkett of Havre; sisters, Evelyn Hanel of Truckee, Nev., and Patty Purkett of Havre; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to the Glasgow High School Education Trust, c/o Jeannie Markle, 904 Wedum Drive, Glasgow, MT 59230, or to one's choice. Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
