CHINOOK Denys M. Pomeroy, 57, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, at Saint Patrick's Hospital in Missoula after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer
His funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Chinook Assembly of God Church with burial following in Kuper Memorial Cemetery. Denys was born on Oct. 11, 1949, in Havre to Earl and Elsa (Olson) Pomeroy. He graduated from high school in Chinook in 1967. He married Lois Shennum in 1974 with whom he had four children. He ranched most of his life on a ranch south of Chinook. Denys's passions in life were family, faith, music and motorcycles. He lived to know and be an important part of the lives of five beautiful grandchildren. He became a born-again Christian in 1973 and lived a life walking in the light of God's love. He played in a band in high school and continued to enjoy music throughout his life. He bought his dream motorcycle in 2003 and spent the last summer of his life riding it every day. Denys was a gentleman who lived his life selflessly. Survivors include his mother, Elsa Pomeroy of Chinook; father, Earl Pomeroy of Helena; uncle, Harry (Collette) Olson of Chinook; aunt, Janet Olson of Chinook; sisters, Doll (Jack Harrington) Pomeroy and Dawn (Kenneth) Overcast; children, Shea Pomeroy of Havre, Camille (Steve) Abson Pomeroy of Havre, Seth Pomeroy of Havre and Nathan (Leslie) Pomeroy of Chinook; and five grandchildren. Denys would have preferred donation or memorials be sent to the Gift of Life in Great Falls or to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are by the Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook. Deaths Gloria M. Almas, 88, of Havre died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at her home of natural causes. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel with Father Robert D. Grosch officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Havre. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. A full obituary will follow.
