EILEEN WOLERY obituary

Eileen Wolery, age 80, died of natural causes early Monday morning, Nov. 13, 2006, at the Liberty County Hospital in Chester.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a. m. Monday at Fifth Avenue Christian Church in Havre. A luncheon will follow. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Turner Cemetery in Turner. Hazel Eileen Wolf was born Jan. 18, 1926, in Joplin to Henry and Irene (Granger) Wolf. Eileen received her formal education in Joplin, where she graduated from high school in 1944. She went to Seattle for a short time and worked at Boeing Aircraft, then returned to Havre to continue her schooling. She earned her teaching certificate at Northern Montana College. Eileen was teaching at a country school north of Hingham when she married Elvyn Glenn Wolery on May 9, 1945, in Havre. Elvyn was serving in the military during World War II when he suffered life-threatening injuries. They were living in Walla Walla, Wash., during his recuperation period, and while there, Eileen worked at a Safeway grocery store. The Wolery's returned to Montana and began farming north of Joplin with Elvyn's brother, Royal. They later farmed the old Suckow place north of Rudyard. In the fall of 1951, they purchased a farm at Turner, where they lived and raised their family of five. In 1976, they leased out the Turner farm and operated a custom harvesting business from Texas to Montana for the next 15 years. In 1989, they sold the farm and retired. The Wolerys remained in Turner until September of 2001, then moved to Chester to be closer to old friends and family. They initially made their home at the Wheat Country Estates. In October of 2004, Eileen transferred to the Liberty County Nursing Home, where she resided until her death. Eileen loved her role in life as a nurturing mother and a meticulous homemaker. Her favorite hobby was probably housekeeping. Her home was always fresh and clean. She also enjoyed making big meals for the harvest crews. Eileen's other hobbies were cake decorating, assorted crafts and ceramic projects. In her quiet time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and board games. Eileen was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Turner American Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday school and was active in the church circles, Ladies' Aide and Bible study groups. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for more than 50 years and was a longtime member of the “Our Day Out” Club in Turner. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald and Gordon Wolf; and sisters, Lucille Cady, Gladys (Johnson) Leichner and Betty VanDyke. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Elvyn Wolery of Chester; sons, Ronald (Della) Wolery of Joplin, Darryl (Ruth) Wolery of Havre, Richard (Elia) Wolery of Elcentro, Calif., and Loren (Mary Ann) Wolery of Turner; daughter, Gail (Monty) Kantorowicz of south Chester; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Robert “Bob” (Sharon) Wolf of Crookston, Minn.; sister, Leila (John) Berg of Des Moines, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Harold “Van” VanDyke of Dunnellon, Fla., and Denton Leichner of Bremerton, Wash.; and numerous nephews and nieces. Memorials may be given to donor's choice. Arrangements are by Rockman Funeral Chapel of Chester.
