Francis Marion Lowen, 84, died Wednesday evening, Nov. 8, 2006, at Northern Montana Care center.
His service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fifth Avenue Christian Church with Pastor Rowlie Hutton presiding. A military honor service will be conducted immediately following the memorial service. Francis was born June 25, 1922, in Trenton, Mo., to Charles F. and Neoma C. (Moss) Lowen. He attended school in Rural Independence, Mo. He served his country in the Navy during World War II Francis met Clara Belle Armstrong and they were married in Fort Benton on Nov. 22, 1942. He worked most of his life in the retail tire business. Francis enjoyed hunting and fishing and camping in the Montana outdoors. He also enjoyed woodworking and reading. He was an active member of the NRA, the Havre Rifle and Pistol Club, as well as the Boy Scouts as an adult and the Teamsters Union. He was preceded in death by his parents; and youngest brother, James M. Lowen. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Clara B. Lowen of Havre; daughter Audrey F. (Frank) Meiwald of Kalispell; sons, Charles D. (Vickie) Lowen and James L. (Susan) Lowen, all of Havre; brothers, Paul Lowen of Excelsior Springs, Mo .; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren; and numerous step great-grandchildren Memorials can be given in Francis' name to the Gift of Life Housing, P.O. Box 7008, Great Falls, MT 59406, to the Havre Rifle/Pistol Club or to the Beaver Creek Park Foundation. Services have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home of Havre.
