Marie “Mame” Pierson, 76, of Havre Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, died of natural causes at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Havre, with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery in Havre. Her vigil and rosary services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Holland & Bonine Funeral home of Havre. Mame Pierson was born Feb. 4, 1930, in Havre to Arthur F. and Gertrude M. (Fitzgerald) Heeter. She met and later married Melvin C. Pierson on June 18, 1949, and they made their home west of Havre, where Mel farmed on his grandfather's farm for the next five years. They later moved to Havre. Mame began working at the bakery department of Safeway in 1962. She then worked at Buttrey's bakery department and then spent 12 years at Norman's Ranch & Sportswear. She joined the Havre Kmart when it opened in 1972 and spent more than 14 years with the company. She was an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Eagles Club, Mame's morning coffee. Mame loved her Saturday 8 a.m. rumage sale excursions. She was proficient in sewing and demanded a neat and tidy home, enjoyed making ceramics, amassing a vast collection of angels and porcelain dolls. She was also an avid reader. The love she had of her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren was deep. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mel of 46 years in 1995; daughters, Gayle Hentschel and Karen Morehouse; granddaughter, Courtney Morehouse; and sisters Blanche Baker and Margaret McKay. Survivors include her sons, Rick (Sara) Pierson of Havre and Stephen (Bonita) Pierson of Spokane, Wash.; daughter Sue (Dan) Clover of Spokane; sisters, Bernice Pyette of Havre and Beverly Marshall of New Johsonville, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Memorial donations may be given to Bear Paw Hospice c/o NMH 30 West 13th St. Havre, MT 59501.
