OLE B. LUND obituary

CHANDLER, Ariz. Ole B. “O.B.” Lund, a former Montana businessman and a current resident of Chandler, Ariz., died Monday morning, Oct. 9, 2006, a few weeks short of his 92nd birthday.

The memorial service was held at the Mountain View Lutheran church in Ahwatukee, Ariz., on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 14. A graveside service will be held in Havre in the late spring of 2007. He was born Dec. 13, 1914, in Havre to Olaf and Lina (Nagelhus) Lund. He was reared on the family farm and ranch in the Simpson community northwest of Havre and attended local country schools and Havre High School. In 1934, O.B. enrolled in what is now Rocky Mountain College in Billings and attended classes in the winter. He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers on the Fort Peck Dam project in the summers of 1935 and 1936. He married Mildred Henriksen of Havre in August of 1938. In the succeeding years, he was employed in the commercial refrigeration field until 1942, when he became a civilian employee of the Army Corps of Engineers and was assigned to the CANOL project in northern Canada. In 1944, OB enlisted in the Navy and spent the rest of the war in the South Pacific Theater. In 1946, O.B. started The OB Lund Company, focusing on commercial refrigeration and air-conditioning sales and service in Havre. He continued that business until it was sold in 1970. After selling The OB Lund Co., he moved to Billings in 1971 and established a business as a manufactures representative in the refrigeration field. While in Havre, OB served as an alderman from his district for three terms. He was active in a number of civic and business organizations and a member of the First Lutheran church. He was chairman of the organization that conceived and built the Home of the Good Shepherd nursing/retirement home. O. B.'s wife Mildred died in 1981. In 1985, he retired to the Phoenix, Ariz., area with his second wife, Mary W. Pingrey. She died in 1994. O. B. was a stamp collector, a hobby which he enjoyed for more than 40 years. Survivors include his daughter, Patricia (Jerry) Campbell; son, Richard (Beverly) Lund; six grandchildren; brother, Ivar Lund; sister, Ann Miller; cousin, Orville Nagelhus; stepdaughter, Helen Neal; and stepsons, David Pingrey and Al Pingrey.
