LEON DOUGHTEN obituary

CHINOOK Leon Doughten, 83, of Chinook died in Great Falls at Benefis Health Care on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, due to natural causes.

A memorial service will be Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 3 p. m. in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Kuper Memorial Cemetery. Leon was born Dec. 31, 1922, in Montier, Mo., to Robert and Della Doughten. He was raised in Missouri and his family moved to Chinook. Leon married Vernice Bergren in 1943 in Chinook. The couple moved to Hogeland and farmed. Later, they moved to Chinook, and Leon and his brothers started Doughten Ford. He sold his share of the Ford garage and went to work for Pike Construction. Leon and his two sons started B & L Mechanics in Chinook. He retired and remained in Chinook with his wife until his death. Leon was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob, Punch and Reg Doughten; and sister, Eva Severson. Survivors include his wife, Vernice Doughten of Chinook; sons, Bob (Diane) Doughten of Chinook and Jim and Bill Doughten of Great Falls; grandchildren, Rob Doughten of Moscow, Russia, and Christy (Chris) Yochum of Billings; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to a person choice. Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
