HAROLD HOLMQUIST obituary

CHINOOK Harold A. Holmquist, 87, of Chinook, a longtime area master electrician, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at Sweet Nursing Home due to natural causes.

His funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the American Lutheran Church with burial following in Kuper Memorial Cemetery with military honors. Harold was born on March 9, 1919, in Wheatland, N.D., to Peter and Alice (Hubbard) Holmquist. He was raised and attended school in Wheatland and attended North Dakota State University. Harold married Alice Resvick on Feb. 16, 1941, in Moorhead, Minn. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 until 1945, during which time he attended the University of Pennsylvania for officer's training. After he was discharged from the Navy, Harold and Alice lived in Devils Lake and Grand Forks, N. D. They moved to Havre in 1949, moved to Helena in 1963 and to Chinook in 1993. Harold's working career was being a master electrician. Harold's survivors include his wife, Alice Holmquist of Chinook; daughters, Judy (Paul) Eggen of Jacksonville, Fla., and Carol DePriest of Chinook; son, Donald (Jan) Holmquist of Helena; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Arrangement is by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
