She was raised and educated in Lake Chelan, Wash. After graduating from high school, Judy moved with her mother to Belgrade. She attended cosmetology school in Bozeman and received her degree. Judy met Larry Schmidt in Bozeman and the couple married May 31, 1974. They remained in Bozeman for three years, before Larry transferred to Havre. They family made their home in Havre and raised their children. Due to Judy's love for children, she began working as a paraprofessional for Devlin Elementary School and Head Start. Judy was a very loving and caring person. Her door was always open to anyone, especially children. She has many “adopted” children whom she raised over the years. Judy enjoyed playing darts, bowling, camping and just being around people. Family was very important to her, and she always remained a vital part of her children's and grandchildren's lives. In her younger years, Judy played softball, barrel raced and was even crowned the Belgrade Rodeo Queen. Her kind compassionate nature was her best known quality, followed by her love for animals. Judy was preceded in death by her father, Patrick Hart; and sister, Elizabeth Hallock. Survivors include her husband, Larry Schmidt of Havre; children, Tammy (Thomas) Marinkovich of Havre, Todd Schmidt of Havre and Tracy (Robert) Brown of Havre; mother, Virginia Hart of Boulder City, Nev.; and six grandchildren. Memorial contributions in Judy's honor may be made to the Gift Of Life. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
