ROSALIE SAUFLEY obituary

LODGE POLE Rosalie Monica (Wing) Saufley, 58, whose Assiniboine Indian name was “Small Woman,” died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at her residence in Fort Belknap due to liver failure.

A wake and rosary will begin today at 7 p. m. in Medicine Bear Lodge at Lodge Pole. Her funeral Mass will be at 11 a. m. Tuesday at Medicine Bear Lodge with burial following in the Wing Family Cemetery. Rosalie was born in Lodge Pole on July 12, 1948, to Leo and Isabelle (Walking Chief) Wing. She attended school at Lodge Pole, Havre and Los Angeles, Calif. Rosalie married William Saufley and they later divorced. She enjoyed helping and being with her friends, listening to her favorite “Pow-wow” and “oldies” tunes. Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenneth Wing, Edward Wing, Gilbert Patrick Wing, Thomas Wing and Richard Wing; and sisters, Annabelle (Wing) Healy and Mary Agnes (Wing) Bird. Survivors include her children, Shane and Shannon Wing both of Fort Belknap; sisters, Elmyria Lee (Wing) Macias of Lodge Pole and Jolene (Wing) Sears of Fort Belknap; brothers, Dennis “Boe” Wing and Joseph Wing, both of Fort Belknap, and Melvin James Wing of North Carolina. Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
