ROCKY BOY Gary Paul Eagleman, 71, a resident of Rocky Boy, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, at a Portland, Ore., hospital of natural causes.
A wake service started Thursday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. His funeral service was scheduled for 10 a.m. today at the church. A traditional Native ceremony was to be held. Burial will follow the service at the Rocky Boy Cemetery. The Farewell Feast will be held at the church. Gary was born on Sept. 25, 1935, to Paul and Pearl Wells Belcourt. He was raised by his grandparents and attended school at Havre. He worked as a farmhand on the Hi-Line and at Deer Lodge. He spent some time in the Crow area near Pryor, where he drove school bus. In January of 1977 he married Hazel (Big Bow) Raining Bird. Since their marriage, the couple had resided at Rocky Boy. The couple raised horses in their eary years. Gary served one term on the Rocky Boy Tribal Council. He also drove the EMT bus at Rocky Boy for many years. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents, Paul and Pearl Wells Belcourt; sisters, Faith The Boy, LeRita Eagleman, Cynthia and Paulette Eagleman; and nephew, Victor The Boy. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Eagleman of Rocky Boy; sons, Louis (Donna) Rainingbird Jr. Of Rocky Boy, Duane (Jodi) Rainingbird of Rocky Boy, Charles Rainingbird of Rocky Boy, A.J. (Shawna) Rainingbird of Owyhee, Nev .; daughters, LouAnn Rainingbird of Helena, Lois Lynn Rainingbird of Rocky Boy, Lynada (Orlando) Seminole of Havre, J'Shaun Eagleman of Pryor; brothers, Stanley (Elaine) Eagleman of Rocky Boy, Brian (Violet) Kelly and Jonathan Jay (Eleanor) Eaglema all of Rocky Boy; Kenny Belcourt and Marvin (Dola) Belcourt, all of Spokane, Wash., Ronald Belcourt of Havre and Michael (Kathy) Belcourt of Big Sandy; sisters, Jay Potts of Hobbema, Alberta, Canada, Pam Stiffarm of Rocky Boy, Janice Belcourt and Evelyn Belcourt, both of Havre, and Donna Belcourt and Doula (Dan) Friede of Box Elder.
