John Jacob Bauer, 80, a retired maintenance worker of Havre died of natural causes at his home Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006.
A wake service will start at 3 p.m. today at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. at the church. His funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. at the church with Father Pete Guthneck officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery in Havre. John was born March 8, 1926, at Culbertson to John and Justine (Houle) Bauer. He attended school in Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School. After completing school, he worked as a farm hand for many years in the Hi-Line area. John attended Northern Montana College in Havre for two years. In 1978, John started working for the Eagles Manor Retirement Apartments in building maintenance. He retired in 1991. He enjoyed cars, wrestling, fishing and being with family. John was preceded in death by his daughter, Katherine Lynn Bauer; infant son, Jerry Bauer; grandchildren, Stephen, Rozalee and Courtney; parents; and all of his brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Olive Bauer of Havre; sons, Lawrence Bauer and John “Richard” Bauer also of Havre and Bruce Bauer of Great Falls; daughters, Ingrid “Debbie” Bauer, Eldora Bauer, Clara Bauer, Ionia Bauer Lohman, Audrey Bauer and Thea Bauer, all of Havre, Terry Bauer of Great Falls and Karen Bauer Gramley of Billings; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorials in his honor can be made to a person's choice. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
