CHINOOK Evelyn “Peg” Margaret (May) Luckett, 91, died in the loving care of her daughter and granddaughter in Federal Way, Wash., on Wednesday, July 19, 2006. She was surrounded by her loving family for the last two weeks.
Rosary will be Tuesday at 7 p. m. in St. Gabriel's Catholic Church with Mass of the Christian burial on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Gabriel's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Calvary Cemetery at Havre. Peg was born in Havre on Dec. 15, 1914, to Frank and Agnes May. She grew up with seven siblings and graduated from Havre High School. She married Ernest Luckett in Havre. She and her husband lived most of their married life in Chinook, where she was very active in the Catholic Church as a member of St. Gabriel's Altar Society. After her husband's retirement, they lived on a farm in Zurich. Soon after his death, she became postmistress at the Zurich post office for more than 15 years. Upon retirement, she lived in Havre for a few years and then returned to Chinook. Survivors include her sister, Genevieve Boyce of Cut Bank; son, Ernest Lackland “E.L.” (Caryl) Luckett of Chinook; daughter, Janet Ray Akre of Federal Way, Wash .; eight grandchildren; and 13 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest W. Luckett, step-daughter Sharon (Luckett) Harshman, sisters Dorothy Oglesby, Josephine Owens, Florence Filler, brothers Frank, Raymond, and Joseph May, and her son-in-law Roy Akre. Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
