Thelma Farley, 89, died Friday, July 14, 2006, at Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell.

Thelma's funeral service will be held at 10 a. m. Friday at Fifth Avenue Christian Church led by Pastor Rowlie Hutton with burial in Big Sandy. Thelma was born in a sod house in Verona, a small community eight miles south of Big Sandy, on Jan. 30, 1917, to Frank and Florence (Compton) Rada. She grew up on her parents' farm, and attended school in Big Sandy. Thelma married the love of her life, Herbert Farley, on Sept. 6, 1939. She and Herbert traveled with his work, living in Great Falls, Portland, Shelby, Chinook, Billings and Columbia Falls. Thelma's joy was in raising her children and caring for her family. She enjoyed hosting dinners for her extended family. She also liked to crochet and embroider. She would go hunting and fishing with her husband and daughter. Since her husband's death 26 years ago, Thelma has always lived close to her daughter Sharon. After selling her home in Havre, Thelma moved into the Eagles Manor in Havre and then entered Northern Montana Care Center. She left the care center in October of 2005 and moved to Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell to be near her daughter Sharon.

Preceding her in death were her mother, Florence Rada; father, Frank Rada; and husband, Herbert. Survivors include her son, Wayne Farley of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; daughter, Sharon Marino-Chubb of Columbia Falls; grandsons, Jim Winegar of Kalispell, John Winegar of Havre and John Farley of Jacksonville, Fla.; great-granddaughters; Emma Winegar of Havre and Selina Farley of Jacksonville, Fla., and loving sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. The family suggests any charitable donations to be made to Hospice, 175 Commons Loop, Suite 100, Kalispell, MT 59901, or Immanuel Lutheran Home, 185 Crestline Drive, Kalispell, MT 59901. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
