MISSOULA Elmer “Jake”
Jacobson, 63, of Missoula died
Thursday, June 8, 2006, while working in Idaho.
At Jake's request, no service will
be held and cremation will take
place. A celebration of his life will
be held later this summer. Jake was
born July 2, 1942, in Chinook to
Elmer Jacobson and Mae
Haugen. He grew up in the
Chinook area. As a young boy, he
spent a number of years on his
grandfather's ranch south of
Chinook. He enjoyed spending
time with grandfather, learning
how to hunt, fish, ranch and be
cowboy. He spent countless hours
exploring the Bear Paw
Mountains with his grandfather.
Jake attended school in Turner,
then went on to graduate from
barber school in Spokane, Wash.
He barbered for many years. He
also enjoyed logging and truck
driving. He was the owner and
operator of Big Sky Sweepers in
Missoula at the time of his death.
Jake always enjoyed being
outdoors, whether fishing, boating,
hunting, camping, or riding
horses or motorcycles. He kept
busy working in his shop and yard
and spent many hours with his
horses. He loved to barbecue. His
family was the most important
part of his life.
Jake was preceded in death by
his parents and brothers, Johnny
and Davey.
Survivors include his daughters,
Karin (Joe) Zito and
Kammy (Rick) Zavarelli, both of
Missoula; seven grandchildren;
one great-granddaughter; uncle,
Chris Jacobson of Chinook; sisters,
“Snooks” Clark of Havre,
Donna Day of Great Falls, Liz
Borst of Billings, Lourice (Dale)
Rutters of Joliet and Kim (Mel)
Knudson of Plains; brothers,Tom
Henriksen of Livingston and Don
Henriksen of Great Falls; cousin,
Dennis (Florence) Olson of
Simms; special friends, Donna
Putman and Thelma Dewell, both
of Missoula; and numerous nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.
Livingston, Malletta and
Geraghty Funeral Home assisted
the family with the arrangements.
