ROCKY BOY William
Denny Jr., 66, a resident of
Rocky Boy, died Sunday, June 4,
2006, at Northern Montana
Hospital due to complications
from a stroke.
His wake
service
began
Monday
night at the
family's residence
and
was to transfer
to the
Rocky Boy
Lutheran
Church this
afternoon.
His funeral
service will
be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at
Our Saviour's Lutheran Church
at Rocky Boy. Interment will follow
at the Jr. Denny Cemetery in
Rocky Boy.
William was born May 17,
1940, on the north slope of
Haystack Butte in Rocky Boy to
William Sr. and Hattie Oats
Denny. He was a kind and compassionate
person who loved
Rocky Boy's Reservation. He
raised his family there and
instilled in them all a hard-work
ethic. He was a member of the
Native American Church and
helped many people through his
prayers and songs. He was very
well known throughout the
Indian Country. He had six children,
12 grandchildren and six
great-great-grandchildren and
two more on the way.
William was preceded in
death by his parents; brothers,
Richard, Sherman, James
“Tuffy” and Earl; son, Curtis
Buckles; and a baby sister.
Survivors include his children,
Wilma Jean (Gilbert) Tyner of
Rocky Boy, Jeri Lynn Denny of
Roosevelt, Utah, Clinton Ray
Denny of Fort Duchesne, Utah,
Johnna Marie (Keith) Blackhair
of Fort Duchesne, Utah, and
Jerid Monroe (Maryanne) Denny
of Great Falls; 12 grandchildren;
sisters, Caroline St. Marks of
Idaho, Helen Louise (Keith)
Capps of Idaho, Winona Denny of
Alaska and Hope Denny of Rocky
Boy; brothers, Daniel Denny of
Rocky Boy, Hartford Denny of
Rocky Boy, Grant Denny of
Rocky Boy and Willy Jim Denny
of Louisiana; and many nieces
and nephews and extended family
and adopted relatives.
Arrangements have been
entrusted to Holland & Bonine
Funeral Home.
