Percy M. Couch, 88, a resident of Northern Montana Care Center died Monday, May 29, 2006.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Fifth Avenue Christian Church with Pastor Rowlie Hutton officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the church immediately after the graveside services.
Percy was born on the family farm north of Havre to Orpha and Dougald Couch. He was raised on the family farm and attended Amos School.
Percy married Ethel Brown on April 18, 1942, in Great Falls. They made their home on the farm north of Havre and raised their four children. Percy spent most of his life farming and ranching. He had a creative mind and had a knack for fixing things.
Percy enjoyed working with wood and metals and was always inventing and creating something new. Percy completed a lot of dirt work for many reservoirs and stock dams for people around the area. He was active in establishing the Big Sky Christian Youth Ranch in Whitewater. Percy's friendly and outgoing personality never left someone a stranger for long.
Percy was preceded in death by his parents, Dougald and Orpha Couch; brother, Glenn; sisters, June, Drucilla and Doreen; sons in-law, Duane Sheck and Steve Hawkins.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ethel Couch of Havre; children, Keith (Pauline) Couch of Gering, Neb., Phyllis Hawkins of Minneapolis, Minn., Cindi (Paul) Matthew of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Calvin (Aileen) Couch of North Havre; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brothers, John (Ardis) Couch; sisters, Bernice Lumsden and Helen (Ken) McDougal; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Percy's honor can be made to the Fifth Avenue Christian Church College Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1328, Havre, MT 59501.
Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
