ALVA JACOBSEN obituary

CHINOOK - Alva R. Jacobsen, 88, died Thursday, May 11, 2006, at Northern Montana Hospital due to natural causes.

A graveside service was held Sunday afternoon in Kuper Memorial Cemetery.

Alva was born Aug. 31, 1917, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Robert and Clara (Kumpf) Marsh Sr. She moved to Chinook with her parents to homestead in the early 1920s.

Alva loved animals and the outdoors.

She married Arthur C. Jacobsen on Nov. 18, 1944, in Chinook. They moved to Havre in 1951, and she cleaned homes and businesses while living there. She moved to the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home in 1992 due to failing health.

Alva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur Jacobsen, in 1972; and brothers, Daniel and Robert Marsh.

Survivors include her son, Kenneth A. Jacobsen of Sun Valley, Nev.; grandson, Christopher A. “Chris” Jacobsen of Sun Valley; and great-grandchild, Avery Jacobsen of Sun Valley.

Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
