CHINOOK - Alice I. Dahlquist, 85, died Friday, May 12, 2006, at Saint Patrick's Hospital in Missoula due to natural causes.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the American Lutheran Church with burial following in the Turner Cemetery at approximately 2 p.m.
Alice was born on Aug. 4, 1920, in Twete, near Hogeland, to Harry and Sarah (Hobbs) Wester. She was raised in the Big Flat area, attended country school and graduated from Hogeland High School.
Alice married Walter M. Sanguins on June 10, 1939, in Hogeland. They farmed and ranched in the area and later owned and operated a bar in Belfry and Laurel.
Walter was killed in an automobile accident on the way to his mother's funeral in Turner on April 12, 1971.
Alice married Chester Dahlquist on Dec. 27, 1975, and they were retired and enjoyed traveling. Chet died Oct. 20, 1999, and Alice lived in Chinook until April, when she moved to Missoula.
Survivors include her son, Ron (Cindy) Sanguins of Frenchtown; daughters, Marilyn (Jess) Ewing of Gillette, Wyo., and Mary Lou (Robert) Mires of Polson; sister, Margaret Shockley of Great Falls; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; daughter, Elaine Nicholas, in 1987; brother, Robert Wester; and sister, Mabel Christman.
Memorials may be sent to the Chinook Senior Citizens Center.
Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
