John “Jack” Conrad Fakler, 64, of Havre died Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at his residence due to cancer.
His memorial service will be held at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Helena, the date and time to be announced at a later time.
Jack was born Oct. 20, 1941, to John and Clara (Wassman) Fakler in Dickinson, N.D. He was raised and educated in Beach, N.D., and graduated from high school in 1959. He attended business school for one year and then went to work for Sears as a salesman in Glendive, Glasgow and Williston, N.D. He worked for Sears for 14 years. Jack enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1967.
John married Janice Evenson on March 29, 1974, in Fort Peck. He began full time with the National Guard in 1981 in Glasgow, where he worked as the unit administrator. He was transferred to Helena and then to Havre. Jack processed paperwork for the personnel in Desert Storm and Desert Shield during the Gulf War. Jack retired from the Army National Guard in 2001. After retiring, Jack moved with his wife, Janice, to Havre, so he could be close to the camping and fishing at the Bears Paw Mountains.
Jack was a former Knights of Columbus member. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Elks. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, and watching wrestling and NASCAR on T.V.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, John Albert Fakler, and an infant sister.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Janice Fakler, of Havre; daughters, Deanna Finnie of Tempe, Ariz., and Jessica Rush of Havre; sons, Ron Rush, Brent Rush and Travis Rush all of Havre, Robert Fakler of Mandan, N.D., and Richard Fakler of Deer Lodge; mother, Clara Fakler of Beach, N.D., daughter-in-law, Crystal Hanson of Issaquah, Wash.; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorials in Jack's honor may be made to the Bear Paw Hospice, 20 W. 13th St., Havre, MT 59501.
Services have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
