LEAH DIXON obituary

BIG SANDY - Leah M. Dixon, 89, of Big Sandy died Monday, April 17, 2006, at the Big Sandy Nursing Home of natural causes.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at a later time.

Leah was born in Pleasant Valley area north of Fort Benton to Elizabeth and Howard Meeks. She attended high school in Fort Benton and teacher's college in Dillon. Leah taught in many Chouteau County rural schools.

She married Charley Dixon on June 5, 1943, and farmed in the Kenilworth area west of Big Sandy until Charley's death in 1973. After retiring to Big Sandy, she stayed active in the Medical Guild, St. Margaret Mary's Altar Society and was the assistant town librarian. Leah was in 4-H as a child and was an adult leader in her later years. She enjoyed bowling and ceramics.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charley; brother, William; and baby sister, Lail.

Survivors include her son, Russell (Myrna) Dixon of Big Sandy; daughter, Laile (Dan) Andrews of Power; grandchildren: Clay (Kelly) Dixon and Chris Dixon of Big Sandy, Clint (Sue) Andrews of Power; Anita Knudson of Great Falls and Chuck Andrew of Spokane, Wash.; three great-grandchildren; and brothers, Howard Meeks of Carter and Archie Meeks of Pittsburg, Kan.

Memorials in Leah's honor may be made to the Big Sandy Fire Department or to The Big Sandy Medical Guild.

Services were entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
