Even though the Montana High School basketball season is officially over, hoops is still on the brain a lot of high school basketball players. And several local prep basketball stars shined this past weekend in high school all-star tournaments around the state.

At the Treasure State Classic in Billings, which is a tournament for high school senior girls, the Havre Blue Ponies were well represented on the Central A team that placed eighth. HHS senior Steph Flatau scored a game-high 30 points in the seventh-place game and fellow senior Alexa Lipp added 15 points. Flatau and Lipp routinely paced the squad in scoring throughout the three-day tournament. HHS teammate Kelsey Evans also averaged in double figures in scoring for the Central A squad this weekend.

The 2006 Treasure State Classic was captured by the AA East team. The Northern C team, featuring local stars like Chester J-I's Mary DeVries and Keyla Briese and Turner's Ashley VanVoast, took fourth-place. Harlem's Dani Dirden and Brooke Filesteel competed for the North B team.

Billings also hosted the 2006 Sheraton Classic for senior boys basketball players. The Central A team was led by HHS seniors Jeremy Giardina and Jared Weigel, both of whom averaged double digits for the weekend.

The Northern C also flexed its muscle in the tournament by finishing fourth. The Northern C squad featured Northern C talents like Aaron Henry from Box Elder and Cody Donovan of North Star.

The first-ever Native American All-Star Classic was also held in Great Falls on Saturday night, and like the all-star tourneys in Billings, several Hi-Line athletes made their presence felt.

The North All-Stars won the girls game by a score of 87-71 and the North also captured the boys contest, 94-93.

Box Elder sophomore Rokki Parker paced the North in the girl's game with 20 points and 13 rebounds. The North squad also feature Rocky Boy standouts Tori and Loni Belcourt.

In the boys game, Harlem's Jordan Mount paced the North with 23 points, and Hays-Lodge Pole freshman A.J. Long Soldier scored 18. Long Soldier was named the MVP of the boys game, and he also captured the boys 3-point shooting contest.
