AMANDA SOPER obituary

LEWISTOWN - Havre native Amanda Soper, 25, of Lewistown died of complications from diabetes Friday, March 3, 2006, at Central Montana Medical Center in Lewistown.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church in Havre. A celebration of her life was held Wednesday at the Lewistown Moose Lodge.

Amanda was born and raised in Havre. She graduated from Fergus County High School in Lewistown and attended Montana State University-Northern.

Amanda loved to bake chocolate chip cookies, spending time with her friends, helping with the senior and angel trees, and her cat. For the last seven years at Christmas, she baked cookies for the senior tree. The years she felt better, she helped wrap presents for the angel tree. If Amanda found out someone liked something, she would bake it or find it for them. She was always getting little items for friends and family. She often put the needs of others before her own, even at the risk of her health.

Amanda often compared herself to her brother and felt like she was a failure - she had no purpose in life. But when Amanda smiled, her whole face would light up and her eyes sparkled.

Amanda's survivors include her mother, Linda Johnson of Lewistown; father, Ted Soper of Havre; brother, Tony Soper of Everett, Wash.; and grandmother, Dorothy Sinsel of Havre.
