ALFRED BRADBURY obituary

Alfred Clinton Bradbury, 81, of Havre died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at his home of cancer.

A public viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Fifth Avenue Christian Church with the Rev. Rowlie Hutton officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the graveside services.

Alfred was born Dec. 10, 1924, in Havre to Henry and Pearl (Slyter) Bradbury. He grew up and lived his entire life working north of Havre.

He married Catherine Thompson on Oct. 4, 1946, in Havre and the couple lived north of Havre. Alfred actively farmed until just prior to his 80th birthday. Alfred loved tinkering in the shop and could fix almost anything.

It did not take long to find out he was a devout Democrat and a Christian. Politics and religion were his favorite topics of discussion. He enjoyed time spent with his friends at coffee club. Alfred was a dedicated husband and father. He spent more than 15 years caring for his wife, Catherine, who had Parkinson's disease. He cared for her until his own health deteriorated.

Alfred had a great compassion for dogs and enjoyed their company. He looked forward to trips south to warmer weather for a couple of weeks every winter. He enjoyed auction sales, but his passion was farming. He loved Montana and working the land. Family was a very important part of Alfred's life. He enjoyed the grandchildren visiting and staying with him on the farm in the summers and playing Aggravation with them.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Pearl Bradbury; and infant brother, Billy.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine A. Bradbury of Havre; daughters, Gail Bradbury (Bernie Frisch) of Winona, Minn., and Dorothy Bradbury and Jane (David) Thompson, both of Havre; son, Bill (Cathie) Bradbury of Havre; sisters, Barbara Peterson of Havre, Joyce Weagley of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, Ruth (Ted) Laugen of Hungry Horse and Zella (Frank) Witter of Havre; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Havre Public School Education Foundation.

Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
