HELENA - Myrna Alene Torgerson, 66, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Retz Funeral Home. A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1610 Sixth Ave. A reception will follow at the Vets Club in East Helena. An interment service and dedication of her grave will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forestvale Cemetery.
Myrna was born in Harlem to Maude and Eldon Hulse on April 20, 1939. She attended high school in Harlem and later met the love of her life, Larry Torgerson, in Havre. Myrna and Larry were married in 1961.
After moving to Helena, Myrna attended nursing school at the Helena College of Technologies and became a licensed practical nurse. She worked at St. Peter's Hospital for 29 years. She loved being a nurse and taking care of people. After retiring from St. Peter's Hospital, Myrna began working at the Maria Dean Medical Center, working until she couldn't work anymore.
She enjoyed spending time at the lake and being with her friends and family. Myrna always loved being surrounded by people. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Myrna was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharla Rae Torgerson; husband, Larry Torgerson; parents, Maude and Eldon Hulse; stepfather, Charlie Kennedy; brothers, Allen, Red and Gary Hulse; sister, Arlene Fetter; sister-in-law, Anna Beth Hulse; niece, Terry Fetter; and nephew, Jake Hulse.
Survivors include her sons, Larry Torgerson and Terry (Leslie) Torgerson of Helena; sisters, Kathy (Wayne) Knudsvig of Helena and Nora (Greg) Thackeray of Boulder; brother-in-law, Sam Fetter of Vancouver, Wash.; sister-in-laws, Marjie Waugh of Anaconda and Corral Burns of Sidney; many nieces and nephews; and four grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
