KENNETH KANE obituary

FLORENCE - Kenneth Joseph “Kenny” Kane, 89, of Florence, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at his home.

A service was held Saturday at King's Christian Church north of Lolo with burial at the Florence-Carlton Cemetery.

Kenny was born March 6, 1916, in Hinsdale to Leonard Patrick and Elinor Josephine (Anderson) Kane. He lived in Glasgow, where his parents homesteaded. He moved to Scobey during his early school years. He graduated from Conrad High School in 1934. He then attended Dickinson State Teachers College in 1935 in Dickinson, N.D.

He joined the Army Air Force in 1942 and was discharged in 1946. He was a corporal at discharge and taught airplane instruments school.

On Oct. 28, 1944, he married Esther Alice Bitz in Havre. They settled in Havre and moved to Seattle in 1962, where he attended Puget Sound College of the Bible. In 1964, the family moved to Florence, where he had since resided.

Kenny was very involved in the church. He was a multitalented craftsman and custom-built his home in Florence. He was a gifted artist, photographer, carpenter and gardener. Kenny also had a deep love for and kind, gentle way with animals.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marlene Diane Kane.

Survivors include his wife, Esther of Florence; son, Patrick (Deb) Kane of Corvallis; daughter, Debbie (Randy) Bakker of Missoula; four granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Chauvet of Big Sandy; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be made to Partners Hospice.

The Whitesitt Funeral Home and Cremation of Stevensville is in charge of arrangements.
