ETHEL GOLDHAHN obituary

FORT BENTON - Ethel Mae Goldhahn, 85, Fort Benton, formally of Geraldine, died of natural causes Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at Missouri River Medical Center in Fort Benton.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Benton Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Geraldine Community United Methodist Church in Geraldine with the Rev. Eric Stinett officiating. Interment will follow at the Geraldine Cemetery.

She was born to Edward and Bertha Formanack on Dec. 9, 1920, in Box Elder.

An exceptional athlete, she graduated from Box Elder High School, distinguishing herself as one of the best basketball players to ever play on the Hi-Line. She received a teaching certificate from Northern Montana College in Havre.

She taught school in Geraldine, where she met and married Charles Goldhahn in 1943. They farmed and ranched in the Geraldine area until 1989, when she moved to Fort Benton following the death of her husband.

She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Geraldine and then of First Lutheran Church of Fort Benton. She taught Sunday school for many years and holding various offices. She was an avid golfer, pinochle player and bowler, winning the Montana Senior Ladies B Division championship in 1988.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; daughter, Janice Seiler; sister, Alice Formanack; and brother, Art Formanack.

Survivors include her sons, Gerald “Buck” (Ann) of Fort Benton, Rod (Joyce) of Green Bay, Wis.; daughter, Charlene Klofstad (Glenn) of Missoula; six grandchildren; sister, Evelyn (Al) Dees of Tacoma Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
