JILL SHAUGHNESSY obituary

ATLANTA - Jill Rene Gaspard Shaughnessy, 41, of Kennesaw, Ga., died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, in Atlanta.

A funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 3131 Hyde Park Road, Pensacola, Fla., with the Rev. Doug Halsema officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with a rosary to be prayed at 5 p.m.

Jill was born July 20, 1964, in Havre. Jill graduated from W.S. Woodham High School in 1982 and from the University of Florida in 1987 as a proud Gator.

Jill had fought medical problems for much of her life, but this time she experienced multiple system organ failure. She had a big heart, but it had been through far too much in too few years. Her family was with her until the end, and even near death Jill was still more worried about her family - and the cardiologist - than she was about herself.

Despite her health troubles, Jill tried to stay as active as possible. She traveled to many countries, and especially loved her time spent in Paris on her honeymoon. She played on the tennis team in high school, and spent much of the 1990s playing in the Pensacola Beach darts league. Jill enjoyed making jewelry and crocheting, and she was one of the biggest fans of NASCAR driver No. 24 Jeff Gordon, and the Florida Gators. She also loved Chinese pugs and going to spas, especially on cruise ships.

Jill was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Joseph B. and Ivan D. Gaspard of Louisiana; and maternal grandfather, Paul H. Conley of Havre.

Survivors include her husband, Andy Shaughnessy of Kennesaw; parents, Gary and Joan Gaspard of Pensacola; brother, Joe Gaspard of Pensacola; maternal grandmother, Wilma Conley of Billings; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.

Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel in Pensacola is in charge of the arrangements.
