Gordon LeRoy Borchers, 80, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, in at the Northern Montana Care Center in Havre of natural causes.
His funeral service is today at 2 p.m. at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Zerger officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery. Gordon was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Grand Forks, N.D., to William and Anna (Wyne) Borchers. As a young boy he moved with his family to Missoula, where he was raised. He attended Central High School in Missoula.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944 and was honorably discharged in 1946. On July 14, 1947, he married Winnifred Brouse in Missoula.
Gordon worked for John R. Daly Co. in Missoula. He worked and lived in many places in Montana before settling in Havre in 1956, where he worked at Rocky Mountain Packing.
Gordon was a sport enthusiast and attended all sporting events, especially high school sports. He was also an avid watcher of professional sports on TV.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
He is survived by his wife, Winnifred Borchers of Havre; daughter: Nancy (Roy) Northey of Helena; son, William (Lynne) Borchers of Lee's Summit, Mo.; sisters, Shirley Miller of West Point, Calif.; Dorothy Visith of Kent, Wash.; brother, Ronald (Connie) Borchers of Terrebonne, Ore.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials in Gordon's honor may be made to the Community Alliance Church, 925 Eighth Ave., Havre, MT 59501.
