EVELYN MORSE obituary

Evelyn Agnes Morse, 80, of Havre died of natural causes Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, at Northern Montana Care Center surrounded by her family and friends.

Her funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Jude's Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert D. Grosch officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held after the graveside service at St. Jude Parish Center.

Evelyn was born Jan. 12, 1925, in Dunlo, Pa., to Peter and Annie (Koris) Drobnak. She was raised and educated in Dunlo, where she graduated high school. She went to work in the Baltimore shipyards as a riveter. It was there that she met Alfred L. Morse. The couple was married Aug. 24, 1946, in Baltimore. They moved to Havre to be near Alfred's family, where he worked as a cattle buyer and meat cutter. They lived in Havre and raised their four children. In 1951, they purchased a farm north of Havre.

Evelyn was an avid reader. She enjoyed bowling, traveling and working crossword puzzles. She loved to play cards, especially pinochle, and also played women's softball in her early years. Evelyn also enjoyed her TV games shows and tossing a quarter or two into a poker machine. She served as a member of the PTA, a Cub Scout leader and a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church. Evelyn enjoyed family gatherings and holidays. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and could make a meal out of just about anything.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kathleen Morse in 1963; husband, Alfred Morse in 1994; five sisters; and three brothers.

Survivors include her sons, Brian Morse, Alfred (Myrna) Morse and Dennis Morse, all of Havre; grandchildren, Tracy (Darren) Dobie of Bozeman, Jason Morse of Seattle, Jeremy (Bobbie) Morse of Havre, Heidi (Chad) Murri of Bozeman, and Brandon Morse of Havre; three great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ruth and Doris Morse; many nieces and nephews; lifelong friend, Nora Nelson; caregiver since she became ill, Dorothy Durocher; and all caregivers who helped throughout her illness.

Memorials in Evelyn's honor can be made to St. Jude's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 407, Havre, MT 59501 or to a memorial of one's choice.

Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
