ALFRED LATHROP obituary

Alfred B. Lathrop, 89, of Havre died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, at Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes.

Crema-tion has taken place and a graveside service will be held later in the spring.

Alfred was born July 27, 1916, in Havre to Avery and Mary (Malstrom) Lathrop. Alfred was raised and educated in Havre.

Alfred married Irene Williams on Oct. 30, 1942, in Chinook. He entered into the U.S. Army in October of 1942 and served in World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1944 as a private. After his discharge, he returned home to Havre.

Alfred was an entrepreneur who owned and operated many taverns and bars throughout the state of Montana, including the Corner Bar in Havre. He was a people person, who enjoyed making others laugh. He told many humorous stories and jokes to anyone who would listen. He enjoyed visiting with people, dealing cards, riding horses and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 58 years, Irene Lathrop; brothers, Everett and Clarence Lathrop and Walt, Charlie and Babe Herrig; sister Mildred Brank; sons, Robert and Richard Wieweck; grandchildren, Tami and Robert; and stepgrandchild, Michael.

Survivors include his daughter, Evelyn Blake of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; daughters-in-law, Devona (Toni) Wieweck of Havre and Mary Ann Williams of Great Falls; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
