THELMA JOHNSTONE obituary

HAMLTON - Thelma Mae (Jenison) Johnstone, 76, of Hamilton and formerly of Havre, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at her home in Hamilton.

Viewing will be held at the Daly-Leach Chapel today from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Hamilton with the Rev. Janet Malone officiating.

Thelma was born Jan. 28, 1929, in Des Moines, Iowa. Thelma graduated in 1946 from the Boyden High School.

On Aug. 2, 1946, Thelma married Arthur H. Johnstone at the Little Brown Church in the Dale at Nashua, Iowa.

She was involved with the UPW, lemonade class in Boyden, Iowa, and First Presbyterian Church in Havre, until moving to Hamilton in 1991. In Hamilton, Thelma served as a deacon at First Presbyterian Church, participated in the Interdenominational Bible class, and was very active in Circle Three and the church auxiliary.

Thelma was an avid pinochle partner and played for several groups in the Bitterroot Valley. She was a member of the Havre and Hamilton Eagles F.O.E. for more than 20 years, an active member of the Golden Ages of Hamilton and a member of the Daughters of The American Revolution.

Thelma was preceded in death by her mother, Mabel Jenison of Boyden; husband, Arthur H. Johnstone; and daughters, Connie Mickelson of Bozeman and Tammy (Donaldson) Braaten of Havre.

Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Williams of Twin Falls, Idaho, Debbie Waters of Phoenix, Ariz., and Janet Schroeder of Saint Maries, Idaho; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and cousin Jolene Putnam of Escondido, Calif.

Memorials may be sent to First Presbyterian Church of Hamilton in memory of Thelma Johnstone.

Arrangements are under the care of the Daly-Leach Chapel.
