LAWRENCE JOHNSON obituary

Lawrence “Bill” Edward Johnson, 76, of Havre died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, in Great Falls, Montana at Benefis Hospital of natural causes.

Cremation has taken place and his memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel in Havre with the Rev. Rowlie Hutton officiating. A luncheon will be held at the Eagles immediately after the service.

Bill was born June 27, 1929, in Vancouver, Wash., to Joseph and Elma (Brumfield) Johnson. He was raised and educated in Vancouver, where he graduated from high school. After high school, Bill went to work for the railroad in the telecommunications division. He traveled with the railroad from Washington to Minnesota.

In Minnesota, he met Dorothea Meyer. She joined him in his travels and the couple married on June 27, 1953, in Great Falls. The family moved many times over the years with the railroad, but eventually settled in Havre in 1973. Bill retired from the railroad in 1984, after 30 years.

Bill was a member of the Elks and the Eagles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and golf. He was a very friendly and outgoing person who enjoyed what life had to offer.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothea Johnson and three sisters.

Survivors include his daughters, Sharon Perrault of Arlington, Wash., Charlotte Petrie of Marysville, Wash., and Joyce Olson of Park Rapids, Minn.; son, Joe Johnson of Havre; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
