WILLIAM ARMSTRONG obituary

Bill Armstrong, 75, of Havre died at his home Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005.

His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Van Orsdel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Rice officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the church immediately after the graveside service.

Bill was born in Cardwell and graduated from Simms High School. Bill's attendance at Montana State College in Bozeman was interrupted by service in Korea. Bill entered the U.S. Army in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1953 as a corporal.

Bill met Jean L. Joppa during his senior year of college at Montana State, while he was studying animal husbandry.

Bill married Jean on March 27, 1955, in Fromberg. Bill worked for the Blaine County Soil Conservation District and the Hill County Soil Conservation District until 1985.

He enjoyed raising horses, participating at O-Mok-Sees and judging trail riding. He enjoyed 35 years as a 4-H leader.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Armstrong of Havre; daughters, Deborah J. (Tim) Heggen and Gail L. (Scott) Nesslar, both of Helena, and Janice M. (Rick) Williamson of Everett, Wash., sons, Harold R. Armstrong of Belgrade and David W. (Susan) Armstrong and Daniel L. Armstrong, both of Havre; eight grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy (Ruben) Gebhardt of Simms and Caroline Eadie of Ashland, Ore.; brothers, Edwin (Roberta) Armstrong of Woodland, Ore., and Merrill “Louis” (Linda) Armstrong of Roundup.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William H. Armstrong Sr. and Gertrude Armstrong; and his youngest brother, John.

Memorials in Bill's honor may be made to Havre Youth Hockey, The 4-H Foundation or to a memorial of one's choice.

Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
