James B. Malone, 87, of Havre, a retired insurance agent, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at Northern Montana Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Jude's Catholic Church with burial following in the Highland Cemetery with military honors. A fellowship will follow at the Havre Elk's Club.
James B. was born Oct. 8, 1918, in Cut Bank to James Carl and Julia (Carroll) Malone. The family later moved to Havre, where James attended St. Jude's Elementary and Havre High School. James served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army in the European Theater from 1942 to 1945 and achieved the level of sergeant.
In 1947, he married Marie Cowan and they divorced in 1957. On March 17, 1959, he married Lois O'Brien.
James enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling, softball and was an avid sports fan. He was a member of the VFW, the Eagles and lifetime member of the Elk's Lodge. He was devoted to his family and was a loving husband and father who had a wonderful sense of humor.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James Carl and Julia Malone; brothers, Ned Malone, Jack Malone and Bob Malone; sister, Carol Malone; and daughter, Linda Harmon.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Malone; daughters, Carolyn (Arnie) Shulund, Patty (Ron) Harmon and Michelle Malone, all of Havre; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
