KENNETH CHISHOLM obituary

CARPINTERA, Idaho - Kenneth James Chisholm, 84, of Carpinteria, Idaho, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, in Boise, Idaho.

Services were held at the Carpinteria Community Church on Oct. 22, 2005. He is buried next to his wife at the Carpinteria Cemetery between the mountains and the ocean.

Kenneth was born to Alexander and Helen Maxwell Chisholm, Scottish immigrants, in Havre on Sept. 23, 1921. Ken was educated in Havre public schools and Los Angeles City College prior to enlisting in the Army in 1942. He served in the Persian Gulf Command in Teheran, Iran, during World War II.

Ken was employed as a social worker with the County of Santa Barbara for 30 years, retiring in 1981 to his home in Carpinteria, where he enjoyed long walks with his wife, Margaret, and friendly neighbors.

He attended Carpinteria Community Church, taught church school and served on the church council. He was a member of Carpinteria Lodge No. 444 of Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite and Al Malakiah Shrine, he was past chieftain of Scottish Society of Santa Barbara and was a member of United Scottish Societies.

Ken was a good and kind man who loved his family and the natural world around him, and for had pride in his Scottish heritage.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Margaret; brothers, Roderick and Robert; and sister, Maxine Bailey.

Survivors include his daughter, Elaine (James A.) Long of Boise, Idaho; grandsons, Matthew of Boise and Andrew with the U.S. Peace Corps in Tanzania, Africa; and nieces and nephews and their families.

Memorials may be made to the Carpinteria Community Church or a person's favorite charity.
