FORT BENTON - Katherine Brese Daniel, 96, of Fort Benton, Havre and Culbertson, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, of natural causes at Missouri River Medical Center in Fort Benton.
A funeral service was held Friday at Benton Funeral Home. A graveside service and burial were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hillside Cemetery in Culbertson.
Katherine was born Nov. 10, 1908, at Winnipeg, Manitoba, to George and Elizabeth Kaufman. She moved to the family homestead north of Culbertson when she was about 3 years old.
Katherine married Jack Brese on May 27, 1926. They had eight children.
Katherine worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Co. as a telephone attendant for a number of years.
She was an outstanding cook and grandmother. She enjoyed big family gatherings and had a great love for her garden. She enjoyed visiting over a good cup of coffee with doughnuts.
Katherine was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Brese; daughter, Jane Kaiser; and sons, Newell Brese and Gene Brese.
In 1978, she married George Daniel. They enjoyed their short time together, doing everything together. She gained seven stepchildren with him.
She was preceded in death by her second husband, George Daniel in 1981; stepdaughters, Doreen Paylon and Gloria Chamberlin; and stepsons, Robert G. Daniel and Lee Daniel.
Survivors include her daughters, Margie Stoner of Fort Benton, Delores Johnson of Havre and Betty Daniel of Fort Benton; sons, Jack Brese and John Brese, both of Havre; brother, Jack Kaufman of Chinook; stepchildren, Arune Brown of Havre, Mark Daniel of Fort Benton and Joyce Hecht of Albany, Ore.; 38 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren.
