MALTA - Don A. Davison, 81, retired railroad conductor and brakeman of Malta, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at Phillips County Hospital of natural causes.
Don was born Oct. 28, 1923, in Malta to Elbert and Elizabeth (Stith) Davison. He spent his early years in Malta and the surrounding area cowboying and ranching. He served as a machine gunner in the 10th Mountain Unit of the U.S. Army during World War II in Italy.
Don worked for the Great Northern/BNSF Railway as a conductor and brakeman for 34 years. He retired to the Bridger Creek area, where he spent his time helping his neighbors and working leather. He recently moved to Malta.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Edward; sister, Winifred Lund; and daughter, Beverly.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; sons, John (Sherry) Davison of Havre and Phillip (Janet) Davison of Sturgis, S.D.; daughters, Linda (Randy) Crockett of Worley, Idaho, and Roberta (Jerry) Dempsey of Aberdeen, S.D.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service was held Monday in Adams Memorial Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
Adams Funeral Home and Crematory of Malta was in charge of arrangements.
