RAYMOND VAUGHN obituary

Raymond C. Vaughn, 84, of Havre died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes.

Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Brad Ulgenes officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship will be held at the church immediately after the services at the graveside.

Raymond was born Aug. 9, 1921, in Cottonwood to Charles and Hazel (Fowler) Vaughn. He was raised and educated in Cottonwood. He entered into the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged as sergeant in February of 1946. Raymond returned to the Havre area and married Virginia Ury on Sept. 9, 1950, in Havre. They lived in Havre and raised their three children.

Raymond worked as a farm laborer and a mechanic for Valley Motor, Bear Paw Sales & Service, Hi-Line Auto, Chuck Vaughn and Havre Ford. He retired from Havre Ford in 1986.

Raymond enjoyed hunting, gardening, watching old Westerns and Army television shows, reading, reloading ammunition, listening to music and playing bingo at the care center. Raymond was known for his wonderful sense of humor.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, American Legion and a member and supporter of the NRA.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim and Ralph; and sisters, Mildred and Clara.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Virginia Vaughn of Havre; daughters, Marilyn Vaughn of San Antonio, Texas, and Louellen (Steve) Lairy of Havre; son, Gary Vaughn of Havre; sister, Dorothy Kainz of Billings; brothers, Albert Vaughn of Havre and Arthur Vaughn of Conrad; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials in Ray's honor may be made to First Lutheran Church.

Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
