IDA WALKER obituary

CUT BANK - Ida Mary (Geary) Walker, 90, a retired store clerk and teacher from Cut Bank, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at Northern Rockies Medical Center due to natural causes.

A rosary was held Sunday evening at the Whitted Funeral Chapel. A celebration of life was held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Ida was born Oct. 16, 1914, to Patrick and Eola (Weidenfeller) Geary at Ovando, where she was raised. She attended elementary school at the Kleinsmith Flats School and graduated from Deer Lodge High School. She received her teaching certificate from the State Normal School in Dillon.

She married Carl Walker in 1938 and he died in 1978.

Ida taught in several rural schools in north-central Montana. She also worked as a clerk at the Cut Bank Gambles store for a number of years.

Being a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church was a big part of her life and she was very active in the women's Bible study group. She was also a charter member of the Women of the Moose Lodge.

She enjoyed gardening and working with the local food pantry.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Walker; son, Dick Walker; and five brothers.

Survivors include her daughters, Carol (Ann) Moore of Havre and Beverly Sundine of Castle Rock, Colo .; son, Gary Walker of Browning; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
