BIG SANDY - Betty Ann Svennungsen, 73, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2005, at the Big Sandy Nursing Home of natural causes.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Christ Lutheran Church in Big Sandy with the Rev. Jeff Stoopes officiating. Burial will follow at the Big Sandy Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately after the service at graveside.
Betty was born Oct. 22, 1931, to Birdeen and Josephine (Rasmussen) Gullickson in Big Sandy. She attended schools in Big Sandy and graduated from Big Sandy High School in 1949. She then attended Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing in Havre and graduated with her registered nurse degree in 1951. Betty worked as an RN for Dr. J. Wier and the Big Sandy Medical Center until her retirement. She was very proud of her profession.
On Sept. 18, 1954, she married Arthur Svennungsen at the Christ Lutheran Church.
She was a member of the American Legion and the Eastern Star. For many years she was a member of the church choir. She loved to crochet and made many beautiful items to share with her family and friends. She also loved their camping spot up in the Bears Paw Mountains and welcomed many friends and family with their warm hospitality.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Birdeen and Josephine Gullickson; parents-in-law, David and Carrie Svennungsen; and brother, Cliff Gullickson.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Arthur Svennungsen of Big Sandy; son, Jeff (Connie) Svennungsen of Kent, Wash.; sister, Gaynell (Clinton) Tempel of Great Falls; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
Memorials in Betty's honor may be made to Big Sandy Medical Center or to Christ Lutheran Church in Big Sandy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
