GARY SCHNURR obituary

GREAT FALLS - Gary Aleck Schnurr, 59, of Great Falls, died of complications of a stroke Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at his sister's home near Flathead Lake.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 17 at O'Connor Memorial Chapel in Great Falls.

Gary was born June 19, 1946, at Billings to Aleck Schnurr and Margaret Degenhart Schnurr. He was raised and attended schools in Billings and Havre. He graduated from Havre Central High School in 1964.

After graduation, Gary enlisted in the

U.S. Navy. he served four years, spending time in the Philippines and stateside. He was discharged in 1969 and returned to Havre. While attending

Northern Montana College, he became a firefighter with the Havre Fire Department.

Gary moved to Great Falls in 1987 and met the love of his life, Susan Anderson. They were married in 1988 and spent many happy years together traveling, camping and family gatherings. Gary was an avid sportsman and loved everything about the outdoors.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Al Schnurr.

Survivors include his wife, Susan; sons, Brad (Tracie) Anderson of Great Falls and Aaron (Kelly) Anderson of Spokane, Wash.; mother, Margaret Schnurr of Great Falls; sisters, Joan (Dennis) Hensley of Lakeside and Jude (Terry) Sheppard of Chinook; brothers, J.D. (Nancy) Schnurr of Medford, Ore., and Rod (Kris) Schnurr of Denver; five grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Fund.
