CATHERINE SONDAG obituary

MANITO, Ill. - Catherine Marie Sondag, 91, of Manito died at 4:55 a.m. Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at Pekin Hospital in Pekin, Ill.

A funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Manito. Interment was to be at St. Frederick's Catholic Cemetery in Manito.

Catherine was born July 22, 1914, in Sykeston, N.D., to John and Emma Wild Hammes

She married Magnus N. Sondag on April 6, 1931, in Sykeston. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1981.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Irvin Alphonse Sondag on May 23, 1999; grandson, Jason Wilson on March 23, 1981; and two brothers.

Survivors include her daughters,Irene Wagner of Havre and Alice (Dean) Wilson of Manito; sons, George (and Jackie) of Peoria, Ill., Alfred (Joan) of East Peoria, Ill., James (Nancy) and Merlyn (Tina), both of Manito; 26 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Freda Laber of Cooperstown, N.D., and Margaret Hagel of Carrington, N.D.

Catherine was a homemaker and member of the Peoria Cursillo in Christianity. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Manito.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 437 S. Orange St., Havana, IL 62644; Saint Frederick's Catholic Cemetery, 437 S. Orange St., Havana, IL 62644, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

The arrangements were entrusted to Noel-Henderson Funeral Home in Pekin.
