CHINOOK - Helen C. McGuire, 87, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at Sweet Memorial Nursing Home due to natural causes.
A funeral service was scheduled for 11 a.m. today in the Assembly of God Church with burial following in the Silver Bow Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
Helen was born Oct. 19, 1917, at the family homestead near Silver Bow to Frank E. and Helen M. (Gardner) Bergren. She attended Silver Bow and Hogeland schools and later attended Bible College in Hillsboro, Mo.
Helen married Donald McGuire on Jan. 4, 1936, in Havre. They lived in various places, including Fort Peck, Pablo, Polson, Helena, Red Lodge and Kirkland, Wash. They returned to Hogeland from Kirkland in 1944 and moved to the Hans Finn-Halver Solem place 3 miles north of Hogeland. They left in 1960 and returned in 1970 and lived there until Donald died on Jan. 22, 1985. Helen has resided in Chinook since then.
She was active in the Farmer's Union, church work and served as a 4-H leader for many years.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frank Bergren; and sister, Gladys Bergren.
Survivors include her daughters, Carol (Ray "Chuck") Harbolt of Maple Valley, Wash., and Gladys (Lyle) Keister of Okors, Alberta; son, Dennis (Ilona) McGuire of Hogeland; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Bernard (Arlene) Bergren of Havre; sisters, Vernice (Leon) Doughten of Chinook and Eloise Hern of Seattle, Wash.
Memorials may be sent to the Assembly of God Church.
Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
