ORVILLE GOODRICH obituary

Orville Howard Goodrich, 88, of Havre died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, of natural causes at Sweet Memorial Nursing Home in Chinook.

Graveside services were in Kansas City, Mo., on Saturday.

Orville was born June 16, 1917, in Wichita, Kan., to Bingham and Gracia (Wilhoite) Goodrich. Orville was raised in Kansas City and graduated from NorthEast High School. Upon graduation, Orville enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was a World War II veteran and served as a radarman, mostly in the Pacific.

In 1941, he married Rose Hines in Kansas City, Mo. After his discharge from the Navy, he worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and for the Kansas City Star. After his wife's passing, Orville moved to Montana in May of 2001 and resided at the Eagles Manor in Havre.

Orville was an avid baseball and hockey fan. He enjoyed watching the games on TV.

Survivors include his son, Bruce Goodrich of Hogeland; daughter, Joyce Rios of LaPorte, Texas; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose; and daughters, Janice Goodrich and Laura Knoche.

Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook and Stine & McClure Funeral Home of Kansas City, Mo.
