JAMES ELMSLIE obituary

MISSOULA - James M. Elmslie, 83, of Missoula, formerly of Havre, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, surrounded by his family in Missoula.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Highland Cemetery with the Rev. Zoe Coutts officiating. Details regarding a reception will be announced at the service.

Jim was born April 8, 1922, to James M. Elmslie Sr. and Pearl Webster Elmslie. He was a graduate of Havre High, class of 1940, and Northern Montana College. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1942 to 1946. He returned to Havre to work with his father in the family owned Hill County Abstract and Title Insurance Co., which he operated for 36 years until his retirement in 1983.

Jim married Juanita Kiehn, March 26, 1950.

Jim lived in Havre his entire life, until moving to Missoula three years ago. He was a lifelong member of the Elks, joining in 1946. He was also a member of the Shriners and Masons for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jane; and his step-mother, Marian Bainbridge Elmslie.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Elmslie of Missoula; son, Jim (Jaylene) of Bend, Ore.; daughter, Linda (Jim) Watts of Missoula; grandchildren, Jacob Elmslie of Cumberland, Md., and Janna Elmslie of Baltimore, Md.; great-grandson, Damien Elmslie of Bend, Ore.; and niece, Lori Forsythe of Seattle, Wash.

Memorials may be sent to Shriners' Hospital.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
