SALLY WOOD obituary

CHARLES CITY, Iowa - Sally A. Williams Simonson Wood, 69, of Charles City, Iowa, and formerly of Havre, died Sunday, July 24, 2005.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Havre, with inurnment to follow beside her late husband in Highland Cemetery of Havre.

Sally was born May 7, 1936, in Boone, Iowa, to Robert A. Williams and Minnie (Harris) Williams. Sally spent her life serving her God and others. She graduated from Augustana Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, Ill. She was very active in health care in Iowa, Illinois and Havre. She obtained her bachelor of science degree in health care administration in 1975 from the University of Minnesota.

Sally and her two sons, Kyle and Brian, moved to Montana in 1977, where she was instrumental in establishing home health care and a skilled-nursing facility at Northern Montana Hospital. She served the Havre community until 1997, when she retired from a senior vice-president position at the hospital.

Sally was an active member and past president of Rotary in Havre and Charles City, and Soroptimists in Havre. She was recognized as Soroptimist of the Year in 1991 and Montana Woman of the Year by the Montana Business & Professional Women organization. She was a Fellow in the American College of Health Care Administrators. In 2003, Sally and Kyle moved back to Charles City, and Kyle was moved into a Comprehensive Systems Inc. facility.

Survivors include her sons, Kevin (Lynn) Simonson, Kyle Simonson, and Brian (Sherri) Simonson; stepchildren, Greg (Barbie) Wood and Gayle Wood Bachini; 11 grandchildren; and her four-legged children with fur coats, Sassie and Lucy.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert A. Williams Jr., and husband, Dr. Jerry Lee Wood.

Sally requested that all memorials go to the Dr. Jerry and Sally Wood Scholarship at the Montana State University-Northern in Havre.
