LAWRENCE WEISE obituary

Lawrence ( Larry) A. Weise, 87, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, at his daughter's home in Havre of natural causes.

His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Alfred Ebel officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at

the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the Vets Club immediately after the services at the graveside.

Lawrence was born Sept. 18, 1917, in St. Clair, Minn., to Edward and Gertrude (Hansel) Weise. He was raised and educated in Alma City, Minn., and attended a country school about a mile from his family's farm.

He married Arline Davis on Oct. 30, 1940, in Alma City, Minn. The couple lived and farmed on the Weise home place until 1944. In 1945, they moved to New Richard, were he farmed for two years. They sold the farm and Lawrence went to work for Standford Oil in Dexter, Minn. In 1948, Lawrence enlisted into the U.S. Army and served until his honorable discharge in 1949. He returned to Minnesota and worked for Fairmont Canning Co., which then became Bird's Eye, until 1959. He then went to work for the Meat and Poultry Inspection Service. He was transferred to Havre, where he worked at Rocky Mountain Packing Company as the federal meat inspector until he retired in 1981.

Lawrence enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and visiting with his family and friends.

He was a loving, patient, understanding and kind person. He taught his children many lessons in life which they hope to pass on to their children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Irene Santo.

Survivors include his loving wife and best friend, Arline Weise of Havre; sons, Ronnie (fiancee, Carol Klampe) Weise of Waseca, Minn., Larry (Sally) Weise of Broken Arrow, Okla.; daughters, Judy Nesdahl (fiance, Vince Mays) of Faribault, Minn., and Julie (Dale) Heggen of Havre; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials in Lawrence's honor may be made to the Gift of Life Foundation or to a memorial of one's choice.

Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
