PERCY NORDRUM obituary

GILDFORD - Percy Nordrum, 80, retired Gildford farmer, died Monday, June 20, 2005, at Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes.

Percy's memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Fifth Avenue Christian Church with Ila McClenahan officiating. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the Vets

Club immediately after the memorial service.

Percy was born July 16, 1924, to Emil and Alma (Sandver) Nordrum in Barnesville, Minn. Percy attended rural schools in Minnesota.

As a young man, Percy traveled through Montana on his way to Alaska. He was hired to work on a farm in Gildford. It was there that he met and married Grace (Kurtz) in Gildford on Sept. 28, 1948.

Percy served in World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was in the 1st Army occupation of Japan and was honorably discharged in 1947.

Percy loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and visiting with friends. He had an excellent sense of humor and enjoyed playing practical jokes on people. Percy and Grace traveled to Phoenix, Ariz., during the winters for seven years.

Percy was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dave Nordrum; grandson, Shane McCormick; and brother, Arnold Nordrum.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Grace E. (Kurtz) Nordrum of Havre; daughters, Lylas (Neil) McCormick of Kremlin, Loretta (Keith) Eldridge of Great Falls, Laurie (Glenn) Huestis of Chinook and Lavonne (Dennis) Schroeder of Miles City; sons, Percy (Laurie) Nordrum of Gildford and Charles (Patty) Nordrum of Kalispell; sister, Adeline Nelson of Havre; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials in Percy's honor may be made to Bear Paw Hospice or to a charity of one's choice.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
